Our History

In 1951 Alice Jones opened the first candy shop in Mackinaw City beginning a long tradition of excellence in candy making. For years, customers have traveled from throughout the Midwest for Alice’s delicious carmel corn and mouthwatering candies. In 1979, Chuck and Ginny Brew purchased the candy shop from Alice, and in 1983 doubled the shop.

Until her death in January, 1985, Alice was here daily… making sure our candies were every bit as delicious as they were in 1951. In honor of Alice, Chuck and Ginny renamed the shop “Alice’s Kandy & Korn” and pledged to continue Alice’s tradition of creating the finest of confectionary treats.

In 1989, after 38 years in one location, Alice’s moved to a larger building adjacent to the old facility. The move allowed us to expand our product lines and gave us more flexibility. We have been able to add candies and expand our chocolate line.
